Gotta Catch Em All! Celebrate Pokémon X/Y with a Poképarty!

The next generation of Nintendo’s massively popular Pokémon franchise, Pokémon X and Y, releases worldwide this Saturday, October 12! The new games are introducing more than 70 new collectible creatures – how many is that, again?

Anyway, it just goes to show that Pokémon is as popular as ever among kids, since it first arrived on the scene in 1996. And now, Pokémon X and Y present the perfect excuse to throw a Pokemon-themed birthday party for your Pokémon Master’s special day. BirthdayExpress.com has plenty of Pokemon birthday party supplies in all-inclusive party packs to make planning and setup a snap. From Pikachu to Zekrom, the Pokemon featured on these decorations are a trainer’s dream.

Your party will be the very best, like no party ever was. Keep on reading for more Pokemon party tips and ideas!

Pokémon Cupcakes

Seems like a no-brainer, right? Aside from Pikachu, the Pokeball is the most recognizable symbol. It’s round, too, just like a cupcake – how convenient! Thanks to rysgoodies2go.blogspot.com for the image above, but you can take a lot of poetic license here. Stick to decorating with red and white frosting for the classic Pokeball, or choose some of the other 26 varieties.

Catch ‘Em All!

For this party game, you’ll need some Pokémon bounce balls and a few buckets or boxes. Set up the buckets or boxes as targets – place some close by and others farther away to vary the level of challenge. Print out some pictures of different Pokémon and glue or tape them to the sides of the targets. See which child can become a Pokemon master by landing the most balls in different targets and “catching” the most Pokemon!

Relive the Adventure!

There are over 800 episodes of the Pokemon anime and 17 animated movies to choose from. Where to begin? Well, how about at the beginning? If the party guests are in Pokemon’s target age group, they may have never seen the first episodes of the show, from 15 years ago. Queue up the original series and let them re-discover the beginnings of Ash and Pikachu’s journey!
